FAQ ON PRICES

Q. - Why do you have a set price for weddings and an hourly rate for all other events?

A. - Many DJ services offer outrageous prices for weddings and they go by the hour, not the event.    I have found through the years that a set price is more popular with clients.  Let's say you book a DJ for $100.00 or more an hour for your wedding.  You guess that he or she will be needed for four hours.  Well, you have cocktail hour, dinner and mingle time after dinner when the bride and groom go around and greet the quests.  You have now used up almost three of those four hours.  By the time you get through the formalities (bride and groom dance, dollar dance, bridal party dance etc.) there isn't much time left for the guests to dance and party.

Q. - Why can't I book a DJ for just the dancing after dinner and skip cocktail hour, dinner and mingle time?

A. - That is a very good question.  You can book a DJ for just dancing after dinner but that is why so many charge so much per hour.  Another problem with that situation is if the DJ lives a fair distance away from your reception hall, he or she will show up after your guests arrive to set up.  You now have a DJ carrying equipment through your guests.  I have many times thought about offering my services by the hour but the thought of carrying equipment through the crowd has stopped me.  If the DJ is all set up, in his tux and greeting guests at the door as they arrive, it looks much more professional.

Q. - OK... Why not just add the additional charge on at the end of the night if I go over the hours I asked for?  If I ask for four hours and it goes to five or six I can just pay you the difference.

A. - Another good question.  When I first started, I did charge by the hour.  I had situations where the parents of the bride and groom began to argue over who was going to pay the extra at the end of the night.  Another reason is because your wedding night is your time... it is your special day.  The last thing you need is to haggle with the DJ over money.  I have been to weddings where other DJ's actually got on the microphone and asked people to take up a collection if they wanted him to stay longer!

Q. - What is the reason for the 7 hour max time on weddings?

A. - Almost all reception halls in this area have a five or six hour limit.  Occasionally I do a reception that is at someone's home or at another location where there is no limit on time.  I have stayed until 3:00am in the past at such events!

Q.- When I figure it up, weddings are more than other events that you charge by the hour for. Why?

A. - Much more time and planning is put  into a wedding than any other event.  As the old saying goes, what you put into it is what you get out of it.  I am here to serve the customer and to provide the best entertainment for their special day.  If you read the "about us" page, I mentioned that I offer a more custom approach to my services.  I make sure you hear the music you want to hear and that everything is done to your specifications.

Q. - I'm having a wedding reception but it is informal and I don't want all the fancy stuff like the money dance, bridal party dance and all that.  Just maybe a bride and groom dance.  It will be more of a casual dress setting.  Do you still charge the same amount for this type of reception?

A. - We get a few of these every year.  Give us a call and we'll work out a fair price for you.

Q. - Some DJ's I have spoken to want as much as $600.00 to $1000.00 to do a wedding and others only want $200.00  Why is there such a price difference?

A. - That is the best question of all!  I don't really know why some charge so much.  I have heard of people paying as much as $1,500.00 in the Cleveland area.  All I can think is that they (the DJ service) either have huge ego's or they take advantage of the situation.  DJ's that charge very little are probably not very busy and are looking to drum up business.  Hey, I started there myself.  You will find that any DJ service that has been in business for a while and has experience with weddings will charge an average of $500.00  I have been doing weddings for 10+ years and also attended broadcasting school at the Ohio Center For Broadcasting.
